| The Baobab forest: While going toward the Somone region, 6 kilometers from the lodge, you can go through the Baobab forest by riding a quad or walking, and meet herds of Zebus. You can also reach the Bandia Reservation by the trails in that forest. M’Bour fish market: Located at approximately 15 kilometers from the lodge, you can find anything you want in this market. | The M’bour eco-trail: This is an experimental trail which includes a museum. It also houses a geophysics station and a magnetic and seismologic observatory. The website is www.ird.sn The museum contains a magnificient display of bird skins. The collection of these skins started in the ‘50s. Visits can only be done by appointment, just ask us and we’ll arrange your visit. The museum is located 15 kilometers from the lodge. |

Slideshow of Popenguine and its cliffs
:130 meters high! A magnificent site, with a cave displaying a black virgin who appeared long ago in front of a few fishermen. This is the site of a Christian pilgrimage on Easter Monday. The women of the town of popenguine have developed a 1000 acre park in order to preserve the area. The village and the beach are a must see. Located 14 kilometers away. |
| Siné saloum: Enjoy the calm and the mangroves while you float in silence in a pirogue. Discover the bolongs or be surprised by the sound or the large variety of birds while fishing during the day. This paradise is located 80 kilometers from the lodge. |

The towns of Joal and
Fadiouth: On one side you will find Joal, a fishing village larger than M’Bour, where Leopold Sedar Senghor, the first president of Senegal, was born on October 9, 1906. On the other side, three small islands constitute Fadiouth. Only two of those islands are connected by a charming wooden bridge. The sound of shell cracking under your feet will resonate as you walk down the narrow streets. 90% of the 7000 inhabitants are Catholics. Gorée
Island : Behind its beauty, this island hides its troubled past as a witness of the slave trade. Spending half a day or even the entire day in this town will allow you to enjoy the restored houses, the colorful streets, the museum perched above the ocean. Only 20 minutes away by ferry from Dakar, it is the island of artists, musicians, painters, and even scientists who use this island to research and work together. . |
| The pink lake of Redba : Used in the past as the finish line for the Paris-Dakar rally, this magnificient lake contains a large quantity of salt. Men and women, covered with a greasy substance from the fruit ot the Karité tree, labor daily to extract the salt out of the lake. Redba is 80 kilometers away, or 2 hours by car (a little more more by quad) |

Madeleine islands : Also called the Snake Islands, this bird preserve established in 1949 spreads over three islands, or 500 acres. You will need an authorization from the park service to visit these wild islands originally created by volcanic activities. Be ready to be astonished by the beauty of shells, sea urchins, and fish. The Anarcadier lodge can make reservtions for you. Access is done by pirogue from the Fann point in Dakar. |
